  Call for MCA International Show participants

Phantom of the Opera audition applications being accepted
The Divisions of Music and Theater of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise welcome auditions for their spring musical production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. Those interested in auditioning should complete an audition application online through the theater division’s website at: Audition materials (sheet music and readings) are available in the main office of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. Auditions will be held Sunday, October 21 at 2 pm in the choral classroom of the Gilliam Center of the Arts. Weekly music rehearsal will begin shortly after auditions. Daily Theater rehearsals will begin in the spring semester. Performances are scheduled for the end of April. Questions can be directed to Michael McNulty at 276-328-0226 or

Ireland Study Abroad applications available
Applications for Spring 2013 Ireland Trip are now being accepted (note: there are a limited number of seats for this trip). The trip will be May 21-June 1 2013 (ENG 3140 – Irish Literature, History and Music) and early bird application deadline is Nov. 30 (final deadline is Jan. 25). The SGA is sponsoring a Student Forum today at 1 pm to discuss whether or not smokeless tobacco should be banned in campus buildings, as well as topics related to the SGA. All students are strongly encouraged to attend and share their opinions and concerns.

Students and Colleagues interested in the Trip to Ecuador (Galapagos, Andes, Amazon, Quito are invited to the first meeting today at 5 pm in the Science Lecture Hall. Openings for taking part in the trip and associated courses will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis for those who complete all of the requirements necessary for attending the trip. These individuals will additionally have access to the most options for financing the trip. Join the Spanish section and Sigma Delta Pi for the bi-weekly showing of an international Oscars film. UVa-Wise faculty will offer a brief presentation regarding the film director and the issues the film discusses, as well as be available for an open forum after the film.
